Considering the amount an average MBA student invests in their degree, it’s hardly surprising that post-MBA salary is a big focus for prospective students. Nearly a fifth of students identify a ‘return on investment’ as an important factor when choosing schools.
Students need the promise of a post-MBA salary spike to pay off tuition fees alone, which pack a hefty punch. Take the Harvard Business School MBA, fetching tuition costs of over $145,000, or NYU Stern’s MBA, which costs more than $140,000.
The story is similar in Europe and Asia, with HEC Paris MBA tuition fees hitting nearly $80,000, and CEIBS charging just over $63,000.
But given the eye-watering salaries that some MBA graduates can expect to earn, the cost doesn't feel quite as significant. Here's the world’s top 20 business schools with the highest MBA salaries for 2020, based on the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking.

20. Stern School of Business, New York University, USA
NYU Stern is a newcomer to the top salaries list, coming in at number 20. Graduates can expect to earn $166,392 a year, a 122% increase from before their MBA.
19. Anderson School of Management, UCLA, USA
Sun, sea, and salary are the big draws to UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, where graduates can expect to earn an average of $162,985 a year. UCLA has been a strong feeder for high tech companies, including alumnus and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.
18. NUS Business School, Singapore
National University of Singapore Business School is one of four Asian schools in this ranking of highest graduate salaries. Their students can expect to bring in $167,070 a year, with many going into jobs in southeast Asia's growing technology market.
17. Darden School of Business, University of Virginia
Darden School of Business was a big climber in this year's overall rankings, joining the top 20, while also finishing second in the FT's corporate social responsibility (CSR) rankings.
Darden graduates can expect to earn $170,240 a year after graduation.
